The third edition of the Domestic Tourism Festival (DTF 2026) has attracted 1,287 participants, as organisers use the platform to promote Nigeria’s tourism assets as opportunities for economic growth, cultural preservation, innovation and national unity.

Founder of Jands Travel Business School, organisers of the festival, Mrs Chioma Obi, disclosed this at the event at Amadeo Event Centre, Enugu.

The festival, themed Innovation and Technology for Peaceful Domestic Tourism, is bringing together government officials, tourism operators, investors, academics, development partners and community representatives to discuss the future of domestic tourism in Nigeria.

Obi said the Domestic Tourism Festival was established with the belief that Nigeria possesses extraordinary tourism assets that are waiting to be discovered, celebrated and transformed into opportunities for economic development.

According to her, three years after its establishment, DTF has evolved into a growing national platform where government, industry, academia, entrepreneurs, investors, development partners and communities come together to shape the future of tourism.

She said the theme reflects the changing face of travel, with technology increasingly influencing how people discover destinations, plan journeys, preserve heritage, market experiences and build sustainable tourism businesses.

However, Obi stressed that technology alone cannot define the future of tourism, noting that Nigeria’s greatest tourism strength remains its people, culture and shared commitment to creating opportunities for everyone.

She said the festival’s growing participation demonstrates its expanding impact and reach, adding that DTF 2026 is also focused on strengthening partnerships and inspiring a new generation of Nigerians to rediscover the beauty, diversity and opportunities within the country.

The festival is supported by the Enugu State Government, Flyzone Tourism, United Nigeria Airlines, Jands Travel Network, Enugu Air, NANTA, Aviation Beatable Journeys, TG Travel and Bereeth Travels and Tours, among other stakeholders.
